The assembly line has become a unanimous element in the production process of mass produced goods, and although the concept is still the same, it has gone through a major overhaul in many an industry that has dramatically increased the productivity of the industry, which has made products much more cheaper for the masses, thus making the business sell more goods, which in turn lead to greater profits and sustainability. There have been so many changes to the assembly line that it could certainly fill an entire book on the topic, however, here are just some of the major changes that took place through the years to make industrial automation a mainstream trend in many manufacturing corporations:
The first assembly line was created by an inventor called Taylor, which was further developed by the one and only Henry Ford. In fact, his production methods were so popular and mainstream that the industrialists called it ‘Fordism’. Here, Henry Ford got about manufacturing an automobile that would be reliable and reasonable for the masses to afford. He was so inclined towards the affordability aspect of it that he made it so that his own factory workers could afford the Ford Model-T. It was a simple process that he incorporated. All he did was create an assembly line that spread all the workers to designated areas, which designated a particular type of work for the people. First the chassis of the car would be assembled and then the body panels, which were eventually married with the engine and drivetrain. This drastically increased the productivity of the manufacturing of the vehicle, thus making it possible for the company to churn out a number of vehicles a day.
The Late 20th Century
Although the USA were the pioneers of the assembly line, the Japanese took it one step further with the introduction of automation in the form of relays and simple hydraulic robots to make hard tasks all the more easier and safer for the factory workers. The Mitsubishi Corporation that made the infamous Zero fighter aircraft during the Second World War is a prime example, and has transcended through time with its automobile industry with the likes of Nissan, Toyota and Honda to name but a few.
The Present Day
In the contemporary era, the assembly line has become unique to every production process due to the ability of easily tweaking certain aspects of the machines employed in the factory. Often, these are supplied by specialist industrial automation companies like Megatronic Power. Humans are no longer required and are replaced by robotic arms and other different types of automated machines that enable a factory to have only a handful of factory workers on the floor

Industrial automation does not seem like its slowing down, but rapidly picking up, making it a wise decision to invest in, due to the many positive outcomes that come about.
